What's the idea behind this blog? What are we trying to do with it?
We love food. It was a big part of developing our relationship. We loved to look through yelp and reddit to see what restaurants were close and we could afford to try. We stuck to the pretty normal stuff at first, burgers, wings, things like that, until I found Simon & Martina's Youtube channel, Eat Your Kimchi. They are a Canadian couple who had moved to South Korea and started a Youtube channel to help keep in contact with family, but basically ended up creating an empire of Korean culture videos that I got addicted to just a couple months after we started dating. After telling Dylan all about it and forcing him to watch some videos with me, he was ready to move to South Korea and drag me along with, but instead we decided to find a Korean restaurant to try first. We drove down Buford highway and our food adventures started, in fact the theme for that summer and honestly our whole relationship had been set.
Since then we've tried a lot of different types of food, Ethiopian, Cantonese, Szechuan, Greek, Vegan, our go to Korean, but we've gotten into a rut lately. We live close to a lot of really great restaurants so we're always choosing to go to one of them since we know they're good and they're close. We were talking about it last week and we decided to finally start the blog to help us become adventurous again. We've always talked about starting a blog or a Youtube channel and we go out to eat every weekend anyways, so what's holding us back? We can have a project to work on together and connect on, while also exploring our city and getting to know more food.
The idea is: every month we will have to choose a restaurant in a different neighborhood of the city and every weekend we'll go out to a place we've never been to and review it for people. Chains are not going to be included in here unless it's new to the city and authentic to the food it's selling. Once or twice a month we'll add in additional posts about our go-to comfort spots, our favorite dishes there and why we like it so much and we've even talked about adding in a segment about new/or go-to recipes as well, because even though we go out to eat, we still like to cook too!
So that's the idea, you can expect at least one post a week and if you have suggestions on where we should go in the current neighborhood, or what neighborhood to do next, let us know by leaving a comment or sending us an email to eatinatlanta@gmail.com!
